On day 5 of our Resilient Lady cruise we were back in Portsmouth ready for one cruise to end and the next to begin. We’re staying on board for a second cruise, and we’re incredibly excited. This is our first back-to-back cruise so we're very interested to see how it goes.
Saying Goodbye
This morning, we headed down to the Roundabout to say goodbye to Tom and Dom, who were disembarking the ship today. It seemed to be a pretty calm process as the disembarkation was staggered. Passengers were able to leave at their booked times, which kept things relaxed. However, we did notice that there were some difficulties for passengers with wheelchairs as the gangway was quite steep due to the tides, and they had to wait for the tides to change.
Back to Back Cruise Check In
We received a letter yesterday with instructions for the back-to-back process. We were told to head to the Sip Lounge by 10am, but when we arrived, they told us the time was actually 10.30. We didn’t mind waiting, as it gave us time to meet other passengers. We found out that 120 people were staying on for the next leg of the cruise.
The check-in process was very simple, we just had to check out of the first cruise and check back in for the second one. It was smooth and efficient, with staff guiding us through.
A Quiet Day on the Ship
Most of the venues on board were closed today and the ship was quieter than usual. We took the opportunity to film our ship tour (available on our YouTube channel). At around 11am the app switched over to the new cruise and we were able to book our dining for the upcoming days. Afterwards, we headed to The Galley for lunch since we hadn’t eaten breakfast yet. It was quiet in there, so we got served quickly and had a relaxed meal.
Relaxing Afternoon in the Cabin
After lunch, we decided to head back to our cabin for some rest. After four busy days, we needed a little downtime before the next three nights. When we returned to the cabin, we were delighted to find our laundry had arrived. We’d taken advantage of this as one of the perks of Deep Blue extras, and the dresses we’d worn on Scarlet Night were now clean and ready for the next round.
Sailaway Party
We were excited about the Sailaway Party today. We missed it on our first cruise due to delays, so we were glad to finally experience it. Virgin Voyages generously provided free bubbles, and we had a great time. We met up with Lizzy Lou and enjoyed dancing, chatting, and socialising with fellow passengers. The weather was perfect, and we loved watching the views as we sailed out of Portsmouth.
Pink Agave
Tonight, we went to Pink Agave, the Mexican restaurant on board, which we hadn’t been to yet. We were excited to try it and had a fantastic meal. We started with guacamole and tortilla chips, followed by a corn dish that lived up to the hype. For the main course, Lizzy had steak, which was fantastic and Laura had a delicious duck dish.
We were too full for dessert, but the whole experience was amazing, and we’d highly recommend Pink Agave to anyone cruising with Virgin.
On the Rocks
After dinner, we went to On the Rocks for some live music. We really enjoy the atmosphere there, and it was nice to chat with fellow passengers. The trio playing was incredibly talented, and we loved just sitting back, listening to music, and relaxing.
During our time at On the Rocks, I had an issue with Lizzy's band not working, so she couldn’t buy any drinks. Laura was able to get drinks, but we decided to head to Guest Services to sort it out. The staff member was really helpful, and the issue was resolved quickly.
Pyjama Party Take Two
After that, we went to the famous Virgin Voyages PJ Party, which this time was held outside at the Athletic Club. The atmosphere was different from the first PJ party, but it was still great fun. We spent time chatting with the LawGreens, having drinks, and dancing under the moonlight.
Before heading to bed, we were a bit hungry, so we went to the pizza place, which stays open until 2am. We ordered a chicken pesto and a margarita pizza and shared half and half. It was the perfect late night snack after a fun evening.
Before finally heading back to our cabin, we had to visit Guest Services again. We were having trouble with the premium Wi-Fi, and I still couldn’t buy drinks. The staff were once again very helpful and we finally sorted everything out.
Overall, it’s been a fantastic day. We’ve enjoyed the quieter ship, our first experience at Pink Agave, and the fun of the PJ party outside. We’re feeling like we’ve truly experienced everything Virgin Voyages has to offer. Thanks for following along, and if you'd like to see our day in more detail, give our video a watch below.
