Enchanted Princess (12-16th August 2022) - Day 2, Rotterdam

Day 2 of our Enchanted Princess cruise, saw us arriving into Rotterdam at lunch time, which meant that we could have a relaxed start to the day. It was another very hot day we were able to watch the sail in from our balcony, where we had great views of the iconic Hotel New York. We visited Rotterdam in October 2021, onboard Iona where we had an overnight stay so we had already managed to see a lot of the city. However we wanted to see more of the cube houses, so we made this our mission for our day in Rotterdam this time around.

As we had an afternoon arrival, it was already very hot by the time we had disembarked, temperatures were hitting mid 30s which is a bit above our tolerance levels but we were determined not to let it spoil our day. We walked from the ship to the Markthal (Market Hall) and spent some time in there, enjoying looking at all the delicious food. We then walked through the street market that was taking place that day, before heading over to the cube houses. We spent some time enjoying the architecture from the outsid and then paid €3 each to go inside one of the houses that was now operating as a museum. If we thought it was hot outside, we weren't prepared for the heat inside the building. The stairs were very steep and it would be difficult for someone with mobility issues to get around inside. The cube houses were fun and quirky and we were pleased we got to see them properly.

By this point, we were hot and bothered so headed back to the ship. As we walked over the Erasmus Bridge, we took the opportunity to take some photos of Enchanted Princess which we'll be sharing over on our Instagram page!

Back onboard, we had booked Sabatini's for this evening and we were very excited, having heard great things. Our meal was fantastic, the service was great and the only issue was that we couldn't eat it all. We'll be writing an in depth review on this meal soon and we'll share photos of everything we ate.

After dinner, there was a night time sail away party up on the Lido deck with the resident band which we really enjoyed. As this cruise was a shorter length, it had a bit of a party atmosphere and this was a good way to get everybody involved. There was lots of dancing, the music was good and the views of Rotterdam by night were fantastic.

Once again, we ended our night in Vista Lounge. It was very busy and the queues continued. We tried ordering drinks using the Medallion app, however after a lengthy wait these were marked as delivered even though we hadn't received them. We approached the bar to ask about our drinks and were told that they weren't offering app service in Vista Lounge that night and that the only way to get a drink was to join the queues at the bar. We were annoyed by this as we'd already been waiting a long time, and surely there must be a way to block orders on the app to stop situations like this. The member of staff we spoke to did make our drinks for us and we returned to our table. A short time later, some more drinks were delivered to us, twice! We ended up with three each and didn't need to worry about the bar queues for a little while.

It was very lively in Vista Lounge and glasses were dropped and smashed glasses on more than one occasion, on the dance floor and near to the bar. On each occasion, lights were turned on and the music was stopped whilst a clean up took place. The night was ended prematurely when a man slipped and hit his head and needed medical attention. The staff in the venue were very quick to react each time, and we were amazed that they had been able to see some of the incidents as it was so busy at the bar. With nothing else, to do we headed for bed ready to enjoy another day onboard Enchanted Princess tomorrow.
